November 15, 2004Prettier Form Widgets in Firefox on Mac
And are easily applied by dragging your firefox application onto the firefoxy application. To undo you simply follow the same dragging process. I have also noticed that these same new widgets are already installed in the G5 Optimised build that I blogged earlier.

The link is busted. Can you provide another?
Beyond that, I'm glad the form elements look better, but the real problem is that Firefox shares Safari's shortcomings in form navigation. Neither of them have got it right, which is embarrassing because IE had this figured out years ago. If you don't know what I mean, go to a page that has a lot of form elements, and try to navigate it while keeping your hands on the keyboard. Can't be done in Firefox or Safari, but the tab key works properly in IE. I fill out a lot of forms online (my company database is accessed through a browser) and I often use IE for this - a browser that is crappy in every other way, but does this one thing right. I've told Apple countless times about Safari's problem; perhaps the Firefox community could take this up.

Uhm, it's a system preference, that both safari and firefox follow. Go to System Preferences > Mouse & Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and enable full keyboard access. Re-launch Safari and... voiila! Tab through every form element.

The links seem to be working for me. Anyone else have problems?

Enabling full keyboard access DOES work well for form input, EXCEPT for drop-down menus. I notice this often when I'm inputting address info and I can keep my hands on the keyboard for EVERYTHING but entering the state, which is usually a drop-down menu. IE allows one to tab to the drop down menu and use the up/down arrows, or manually begin typing in the menu to find your selection.

My mistake...Safari DOES let you tab to drop down menus/lists, but Firefox does not...odd.

Klick on "Download now" at http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16118 will show the .Mac error page:
"We're sorry, but we can't find the HomePage you've requested. It's possible that:"

I made some OSX style button and droplists adjustments in the Firefoxy file. Drop me a line if you want to look at it.

I am sorry bernhard but the link that you posted works fine for me. I find it a bit weird that the error message talks about .Mac home pages. I would check your browser out as this link has nothing to do with .Mac as it is on the macupdate site.

This is a bit late, I know, but all broken links have been fixed. Sorry for any inconvenience.

For full tabindex accessability in firefox:
- Type about:config in the URL bar.
- In the Filter field, type tabfocus.
- Double-click on the accessibility.tabfocus preference.
- Change the value to 7.
enjoy
